Another beautiful castle is The Pain Shahr Castle with 2500 square meters of space in the city of Birjand. Over the long years it has protected the city of Birjand . This adobe castle has a beautiful vista from on top of a relatively large hill in the old section of the city and attracts all visitors and passersby. The oldest parts date to the Safavid Period(1500-1732AD) and there is a tower on each corner.
