Lakhmazzar (Khorasan Jonoobi)

stone-carvings-of-lakhmazzar-birjand

Originally it was thought that human residents are from historic periods, but the different artifacts discovered show the humans have dwelt here even before history. The best remains from these prehistoric people are the stone pictures in the ancient Lakhmazzar Site. The remains from historic periods date to dynasties such as: Achmedian, Partian and Sassanid. Finding the stone carvings of Lakhmazzar near the village of Kuch in the Central District of Birjand dating from several thousand years ago confirmed the presence of humans with a culture in this area.

These stone pictures show a considerable amount of variety and some can be identified as human and animal portrayals, script plaques, designs and symbols. One of the scripts can be translated as follows:

"Mehraban-Khostovan and Mehraban-Who guide correctly-who lead correctly cultivate-groom."

The analysis of this script shows the presence of humans in this region from prehistoric times.
